The PS5 Pro is Sony's most powerful console. Here you can compare new and used offers – we filter out suspiciously cheap bait offers using a minimum price.
What makes the PS5 Pro different
The PS5 Pro was released in November 2024. It has a much more powerful GPU, improved ray tracing and an AI-based upscaling technique (PSSR) that makes enhanced games look sharper and run more smoothly than on the standard PS5. On top of that comes a 2 TB SSD – twice as much as the Slim.
Important: the Pro is sold without a disc drive. If you want to use discs, you need the separately available detachable drive, which also fits the Slim Digital. Some shops offer bundles including the drive – check the description carefully to see what is included.
Who is the Pro worth it for?
You get the biggest benefit with a 4K TV or monitor with 120 Hz and in games that have been explicitly optimised for the Pro. On a Full HD TV or with titles that have not been enhanced, the difference from the Slim is small. All PS5 games run on both consoles.
- Worth it: large 4K TV, you want high frame rates and ray tracing
- Probably not needed: Full HD screen, mostly older games
- 2 TB SSD: room for many more installed games
Buying a used PS5 Pro safely
Because the Pro is expensive, buying used pays off – but calls for caution. Offers that are far too cheap, pre-orders without a delivery date or sellers without ratings are typical warning signs. Look for a receipt, the serial number (CFI-7000 series model) and complete accessories. On marketplaces, only pay using the protected payment methods provided there.
Planning accessories and connections properly
For the Pro to show its strengths, your TV should support HDMI 2.1 at 120 Hz; a suitable cable comes with the console. For fast online connections the Pro has Wi-Fi 7 on board, but a LAN cable remains the most stable solution. The vertical stand is sold separately. If you are upgrading from an older PS5, you can transfer saves and installed data over the network or via an external hard drive instead of downloading everything again. The quickest way to see whether the extra cost over the Slim is worth it for you is to compare both pages in the price history.
